Melbourne traffic passes 2.5 million for the first time
Australia's Melbourne Airport announced it handled more than 2.5 million passengers in Oct-2010, the first time monthly traffic has exceed 2.5 million. The airport added that annual traffic has exceeded 27 million passengers for the first time. International passenger traffic increased 14.3% year-on-year to 532,046 passengers. Growth at Melbourne, once again, was driven by traffic to and from Asia. The airport outlined the following growth in Asian traffic:
- Malaysia: +42.7%;
- Thailand: +41.9%;
- Taiwan: +27.3%;
- India: +14.6%;
- China: +14.5%;
- Philippines: +13.3%;
- Sri Lanka: +10.6%;
- Japan: +9.3%;
