Mega Maldives 'looking for the right aircraft' for BB Airways

Mega Maldives CEO George Weinmann, talking to CAPA TV on the sidelines of the CAPA Asia Aviation Summit and LCC Congress, commented (Oct-2014) on the carrier's MoU with BB Airways. He said the carrier is "looking for the right aircraft for that mission". He said the carrier is seeking aircraft with "reasonably good range without being too big". He said the aircraft needs to be 15 years or younger to adhere to Nepal regulations, noting: "Again for the [Boeing] 757 market, which was a very good choice of aircraft for Nepal, the availability or choices are very limited and so that has caused us to rethink that a little bit and look farther afield to see how we go forward with that". He also confirmed the project is "still in development". Mega Maldives Airlines and BB Airways announced the JV at the CAPA - Airlines Fleet & Finance Summit 2014 in Mar-2014, noting that talks began with BB Airways commenced at the CAPA - Airline Fleet & Finance Summit 2013 and the deal completed in Mar-2014.
