MAp expecting LCCs and a general recovery in the aviation industry to increase traffic

MAp Group stated it expects the increasing popularity of LCCs and a general recovery in the aviation industry to lead to an increase in passenger traffic at its airports (AsiaPulse, 25-Feb-2010). MAp CEO, Kerrie Mather, stated airline capacity is definitely returning and there are strong propsects for growth in the long term. Ms Mather added further route liberalisation and improvements in aircraft technology will also lead to a rise in traffic.

MAp: "All our airports expect to benefit from the increasing market share of low cost carriers. In European short-haul, low cost carriers are now expected to be 50% of the market by 2015 and we are providing infrastructure specifically targeted at that market…Liberalisation remains a significant opportunity for Sydney, which continues to be underserved by airlines and destinations," Kerrie Mather, CEO.
