Malta Airport reports record November traffic with significant growth from major markets

Malta International Airport reported (05-Dec-2013) a 17.8% year-on-year increase in passenger numbers to 249,133 in Nov-2013, extending the year's record streak to the first full month of the winter season. The airport attributed the results to an 18% increase in seat capacity while retaining the same seat load factor. Commenting on the results, airport CEO Markus Klaushofer said "A total of 249,133 passengers were hosted by Malta International Airport last month, breaking all previous records for November. This continues to confirm a very positive trend experienced throughout 2013, with one record month after another, even in the first full month of the winter season." Meanwhile, the airport also experienced "massive growth in some major markets" including a 14.9% growth from the UK market, a 25% growth from Italy, while Spain grew by 37.2% and Germany grew by 5%.
