Macquarie Group, Hong Kong Aviation, BoC and Terra Firma interested in ILFC assets

Macquarie Group and Hong Kong Aviation Company reportedly lodged bids to acquire USD3.5 billion in aircraft to be sold by ILFC (Australian Financial Review, 15-Mar-2010). Bank of China and Terra Firma are also believed to be interested in the assets. ILFC parent, American International Group, is reportedly assessing bids for ILFC, which controls nearly 1,000 aircraft, valued at USD44 billion. Any sale would require regulatory approval. Macquarie has acquired USD1.5 billion in assets from GATX Corporation, while Hong Kong Aviation recently finalised the acquisition of assets from Allco Finance, valued at USD3 billion.
