Lufthansa to add 61 new connections in summer 2012

Lufthansa stated (08-Mar-2012) it would add five new destinations and 61 new connections in summer 2012. In the new summer timetable, Lufthansa will operate services to 216 destinations in 83 countries (compared to 211 destinations in 84 countries in 2011). "Never before have we been able to offer our customers so many connections to such a large number of destinations," Lufthansa German Airlines Board member Jens Bischof stated. The carrier will also expand its presence in Berlin upon the opening of Berlin Brandenburg Airport on 03-Jun-2012. From that date, the airline will offer 28 new non-stop connections from the airport, expanding its route network to and from the German capital from eleven to 39 routes (26 to European destinations and two new routes from Berlin to the Middle East). The carrier is also expanding its China network and in summer is heavily focusing on seasonal connections to key holiday destinations in Europe. [more - original PR]
