Lufthansa applies to launch A380 services to Delhi

Lufthansa announced it has applied to launch A380 services to Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport, which will have capacity to handle A380 equipment with the opening of Terminal 3 in mid Jul-2010 (Business Standard, 02-Jun-2010). The carrier is considering an A380 launch to India between Nov-2009 and Mar-2010.

Lufthansa: "We have already applied for the permission to operate A380 and the process is under way. We expect to be able to operate during the winter schedule, which can be anywhere from November to March. Even after the permission is obtained and the terminal is ready, there are a number of things that need to be worked out, most importantly the ground equipment needed has to be put in place," Axel Hilgers, Director South Asia.
