Lithuanian airports see record in 2011 pax traffic

Lithuanian airports including Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga reported record traffic in 2011, according to reports in The Baltic Times. 2.7 million passengers passed through Lithuanian airports in 2011, a 17.9% year-on-year increase. Transport and Communication Minister Eligijus Masiulis said, "The rapidly increasing passenger flow for the second year in a row shows that air transportation is being expanded very successfully in the country. During the winter season, 18 different airlines have regular flights from Lithuanian airports, and they enable [passengers] to reach 37 different European airports." A 34% increase in traffic was reported in Dec-2011.
