Kansai reports international growth; domestic traffic declines

Japan's Kansai International Airport Co Ltd stated the number of international aircraft movements increased by 2% year-on-year in Jan-2011 (Nikkan Koku, 01-Mar-2011). Domestic aircraft movements declined by 12%, resulting in overall reduction in aircraft movements of 2% in Jan-2011. The airport handled 1.1 million passengers in Jan-2011, similar to Jan-2010 levels. The number of non-Japanese international passengers increased by 6% in the month, marking the 15th consecutive month of year-on-year growth. Japanese international passengers declined by 3%.
