JAL welcomes Oct-10 opening of fourth runway and new passenger terminal at Haneda Airport

Japan Airlines welcomed the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's announcement that Haneda Airport's fourth runway and new passenger terminal will be open for use on 21-Oct-2010, with international scheduled operations to commence on 31-Oct-2010. JAL plans to commence services from Haneda to San Francisco, Honolulu, Paris, Bangkok and Taipei from 31-Oct-2010. Following the expansion, regular flights will connect the airport with South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan during the daytime and with Southeast Asia, the US, Canada and European cities in the early morning and late evening. International traffic at Haneda is currently limited to short-haul charter services to/from South Korea and China. Arrivals and departures at Haneda will increase from 303,000 presently to 371,000, of which 60,000 will be allocated for international flights (Kyodo news, 14-May-2010).
