Indian Government considers opening FDI cap to foreign airline investors in domestic airlines

Indian Government reportedly announced it is considering plans to permit foreign airlines to invest in Indian domestic carriers (The Hindu Business Line, 21-Dec-2009). Indian Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has reportedly submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Commerce requesting foreign airlines be permitted to invest under the 49% foreign direct investment (FDI) cap in domestic airlines, currently in force for non-airline investors.
