IATA director states privatised French airports abuse monopoly

IATA Director General, Giovanni Bisignani, stated privatised French airports have tended to abuse their dominant market position, saying excessive charges were one reason the industry has difficulty making a profit (Dow Jones, 19-Apr-2010).

IATA: "It is nearly always a disaster. Airlines pay out nearly 10% of their revenue in user charges to airports and other bodies such as air traffic control organisations. Airports are often able to generate profit margins of up to 60%," Giovanni Bisignani, Director. Source: Dow Jones, 19-Apr-2010.
