IAG CEO lists five rivals he says are ‘in play’

IAG CEO Willie Walsh has identified five European airlines he believes are likely consolidation participants in Europe (The Financial Times, 03-Nov-2010). At an investor conference in New York, Mr Walsh listed SAS, Finnair, Aer Lingus and TAP Portugal. He added that bmi would also make sense for IAG, given its large portfolio of slots at Heathrow. Mr Walsh stated: "If Lufthansa are looking to sell bmi we would be interested in acquiring it."
