Hong Kong Airport reports 2% fall in Jan-2010 pax numbers

China's Hong Kong International Airport reports (16-Feb-2010) the following traffic highlights in Jan-2010:

  • Passenger numbers: 3.9 million, -1.6% year-on-year;
  • Cargo volume: 301,000 tonnes, +43.3%;
  • Aircraft movements: 23,460, -3.2%. [more]

Aviation Authority Hong Kong: "The aviation market continued to rebound during the first month of 2010, particularly on the cargo side amid improving economy and global trade activities…Whilst passenger volume and air traffic movements showed mild declines year on year due to timing difference of the Chinese New Year holidays, we believe January and February taken together will likely also show an encouraging growth trend over the same period last year," Stanley Hui Hon-chung, Chief Executive Officer.
