Hawaiian Airlines vows to remain price competitive against Jetstar on Australia-Hawaii services

Hawaiian Airlines vowed to remain price competitive against Jetstar on Australia-Hawaii services, and plans to continue promoting the benefits of a full service carrier compared to the LCC "add ons" product (Travel Weekly, 18-Nov-2009). The carrier added it has been "somewhat protected" from aggressive competition on the trans-Pacific route as it mainly caters for Hawaii-bound traffic, but declined to disclose whether the route is profitable. The carrier also admitted that yields on the route have been "catastrophic" over the past few months, but it has been "pretty encouraged" by recent sales.

Hawaiian Airlines: "We are fairly full for the next two months. In general, business has picked up significantly and there are some signs that yields are coming up," Avi Mannis, Vice President Revenue Management. Source: Travel Weekly, 18-Nov-2009.
