Future of Aviation Advisory Committee makes final recommendations to DoT Secretary

US Future of Aviation Advisory Committee (FAAC) forwarded (15-Dec-2010) its final recommendations to improve the competitiveness and viability of the aviation industry to Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood. Recommendations include urging the government to review the feasibility of current taxes and fees on airlines and support "responsible" regulatory intervention to reduce fuel price volatility if necessary (Reuters, 15-Dec-2010). The FAAC also recommended accelerating the benefits of NextGen system by equipping commercial and general aviation aircraft through a public/private partnership. In Apr-2010, LaHood announced the formation of the FAAC to improve the safety, competitiveness, environmental performance, workforce practices, and infrastructure development of the aviation industry.
