EU approves PNR legislation

European Union approved Passenger Name Record legislation, voting 110 to 23 to approve the collection of data to counter terrorism, human trafficking and other criminal activities (Irish Times, 20-Apr-2011). The directive will require EU authorities to up to 19 pieces of passenger information flights to/from the EU. PNR sharing agreements are in place with the US, Canada and Australia.
