Etihad Airways and airberlin announces 'significant' increase in services to Thailand

airberlin and Etihad Airways announced (07-Feb-2012) a "significant" increase in services to Thailand (in addition to increased services between Abu Dhabi and Germany). Subject to government approvals, airberlin plans to launch daily Abu Dhabi-Phuket service from 25-Mar-2015 using two-class A330-200 equipment. Etihad Airways also plans to operate a third daily Abu Dhabi-Bangkok frequency from 15-Apr-2012 using two-class Boeing 777-300ER equipment. The carrier said the increased frequency will "cater to growing demand on the route, and the significant increase in volumes expected as a result of the airberlin partnership". The carrier stressed the increased operations "highlights Abu Dhabi's strategic location as a major gateway to Asia." CEO James Hogan added: "It all adds up to a game changing proposition for travellers in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and across the rest of our combined global network" - see Route Changes Table for more information.
