Ethiopian Airlines aims to develop into aviation group with expanded scope of services

Ethiopian Airlines aims to develop into an aviation group that offers more services than just transporting passengers and cargo (FlightCom, Oct-2011). CEO Tewolde Gabremariam stated, "The Ethiopian Aviation Group" will comprise of seven business units acting as separate profit centres with their own general managers. "Ethiopian Airlines used to be, and still is, an airline, basically carrying passengers and cargo. In Vision 2025 we plan to transform the airline into an aviation group. Those aviation services which are now affiliated with the core business of carrying passengers and cargo will sort of be autonomous business units to become independent profit centres within the group," the CEO explained.
