EgyptAir operations to normalise by year-end: CEO

EgyptAir Holding Company CEO Hussein Massoud stated the political turmoil in Egypt has had a significant impact on its flight operations and passenger volume but added that he is very optimistic that the situation will normalise by the end of 2011 (PTI, 24-Apr-2011). "We hope before the end of this year, we are able to normalise operations," he said. Mr Massoud expects the airline will benefit from the operation of almost 2,600 services between Egypt and Saudi Arabia between Mar-2011 and Sep-2011 for the Umrah pilgrimage to Mecca. Mr Massoud also said EgyptAir has nine subsidiaries and last year, its overall profit was around USD 100 million.
