Dubai Airport pax exceed five million for sixth consecutive month in May-2013

UAE's Dubai Airport reported (26-Jun-2013) a 18.9% year-on-year increase in passenger numbers to 5.2 million in May-2013, the sixth consecutive month that passenger numbers have exceeded five million and 10th consecutive month of double-digit growth. The airport reported western Europe saw the largest increase in total passengers (+208,393), due to Emirates' and flydubai's network expansion, followed by the AGCC (+189,810), and the Indian sub-continent (+131,364). Australia was the fastest growing destination with 50% growth in traffic following Qantas' tie-up with Emirates in May-2013. Saudi Arabia was the second fastest growing destination. India remained the top destination country in terms of total passengers with 728,259. During the month, the airport handled 209,985 tonnes of cargo, up 11.9%, and 31,121 aircraft movements, up 10%.
