Dubai Airport announces 14% increase in Jan-2012 pax, cargo down 3%

UAE's Dubai International Airport passenger numbers up 13.9% - traffic highlights for Jan-2012:

  • Passenger numbers: 4.9 million, +13.9%;
  • Cargo volume: 173,531, -2.6%;
  • Aircraft movements: 29,680, +8.4%.

Jan-2012 passenger numbers surpasses the previous record of 4.7 million of Jul-2011 and the 14% increase is the largest month-on-month increase in 14 months. This performance brings the airport's rolling 12-month passenger numbers to 51.6 million. South America was the strongest market in terms of percentage passenger growth in Jan-2012 (+71.4%), followed by Russia and CIS (+57.3%) and the GCC (+36.9%).
