Continental Oct-2009 passenger traffic up 1.7%, PRASM down 21.1%

Continental Airlines passenger traffic up 1.7% - consolidated traffic highlights in Oct-2009:

  • Passenger numbers: 5.1 million, -1.0% year-on-year;
  • Passenger traffic (RPMs): +1.7%;
  • Passenger load factor: 82.5%, +3.5 ppts;
    • Domestic: 85.4%, +2.4 ppts;
    • Trans-Atlantic: 83.8%, +8.2 ppts;
    • Latin America: 80.2%, +1.8 ppt;
    • Asia Pacific: 73.2%, -0.5 ppt;
  • Oct-2009 passenger revenue per ASM*: -15%;
    • Mainline: -16%;
  • Sep-2009 passenger revenue per ASM: -19.2%;

Continental Airlines: "For October 2009, consolidated passenger revenue per available seat mile (RASM) is estimated to have decreased between 14.0% and 15.0% compared to October 2008, while mainline RASM is estimated to have decreased between 15.0% and 16.0%. For September 2009, consolidated passenger RASM decreased 19.2% compared to September 2008, while mainline passenger RASM decreased 21.1% compared to September 2008," Company statement.
