China will invest CNY6.2 trillion in transportation infrastructure upgrades

China will invest CNY6.2 trillion (USD955 billion) in upgrades to its transportation infrastructure during its 12th Five-Year Plan (Xinhua, 27-May-2011). The figure was compared with a previous investment of CNY4.7 trillion in the sector during the 11th plan 2006-10. The money will fund the construction of road and waterway transportation according to Director of the Comprehensive Planning Department of the Ministry of Transport, Sun Guoqing.
