China Eastern Airlines reports revenue up 74% in 1Q2010 after absorption of Shanghai Airlines

China Eastern Airlines reports (19-Apr-2010) the following financial/traffic highlights for the three months ended 31-Mar-2010, including Shanghai Airlines (according to the Chinese accounting standard):
  • Revenue: USD2,280 million, +74% year-on-year;
  • Operating costs: USD1,899 million, +53.9%;
  • Operating profit (loss): USD110.3 million, compared to a loss of USD124.5 million in the corresponding period last year;
  • Net profit (loss): USD112.7 million, compared to a profit of USD5.9 million in the corresponding period last year;
  • Passenger numbers: 14.4 million, +42.9%;
    • Domestic: 12.3 million, +43.1%;
    • International: 1.5 million, +46.9%;
    • Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan: 639,510, +32.1%;
  • Cargo volume: 344,900 tonnes, +84.6%. [more]
