Chengdu Airport becomes fourth airport in China to handle more than 40m annual pax

Chengdu Airport announced (10-Dec-2015) it handled its 40 millionth passenger for the year on 10-Dec-2015, becoming the fourth airport in China to handle more than 40 million passengers in a single year after Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, as well as the first airport in China's Central West region to achieve the milestone. The airport has experienced double-digit traffic growth in the past few years, achieving its first 10 million annual passengers in 2004, 20 millionth annual passenger in 2009 and 30 millionth annual passenger in 2012. The airport's annual passengers also exceeded Shenzhen Airport for the first time in 2011. Chengdu Airport is expected to handle 42 million passengers in full year 2015.
