CAAC announces 2015 targets

CAAC released (09-May-2011) its 12th five-year development plan, which includes the following traffic targets for 2011 to 2015:

  • 2010 traffic highlights:
    • Passenger numbers: 268 million;
    • Cargo volume: 5.6 million tonnes;
    • Load factor: 71.6%;
    • Aircraft utilisation rate: 9.4 hours per day;
    • Aircraft movements: 6.1 million;
    • Number of airports: 175;
    • Number of aircraft: 1597;
    • Number of general aviation aircraft: 1010;
    • Number of pilots: 24,000;
    • Students enrolled in aviation school: 50,000;
  • 2015 target:
    • Passenger numbers: 450 million, +11% p/a;
    • Cargo volume: 9.0 million tonnes, +10% p/a;
    • Load factor: Greater than 70%;
    • Aircraft utilisation rate: Greater than 9.6 hours;
    • Aircraft movements: 10.4 million, +11% p/a;
    • Number of airports: Greater than 230;
    • Number of aircraft: 2750, +11 p/a%;
    • Number of general aviation aircraft: Greater than 2000;
    • Number of pilots: 40,000, +11% p/a;
    • Students enrolled in aviation school: 63,000, +5% p/a.
