Braathens Aviation 'will not assume the role of formal launch operator' for CS100

Braathens Aviation informed (29-Aug-2014) Bombardier that it "will not assume the role of formal launch operator" for the CS100. Braathens Aviation stated: "An engine related incident on one of the CSeries test aircraft was reported by Bombardier in late May. It has subsequently emerged that this may cause another delay to the CSeries introduction. We have informed Bombardier that we will not assume the role of formal launch operator of the aircraft type. Due to increased uncertainty we are discussing other possible changes to the aircraft delivery schedule with Bombardier." As previously reported by CAPA, an engine failure at the end of May-2014 resulted in a grounding of the CSeries test fleet. Bombardier has not announced when flight tests will resume. According to the CAPA Fleet Database, Braathens Aviation subsidiary Braathens Leasing AS currently has 15 CS100 aircraft on order, scheduled for delivery between Sep-2015 and 2018. The company also has five CS300 aircraft on order. [more - original PR]
