Bombardier could reduce production of regional jets

Bombardier announced it may decide during 4Q2009 or early 2010 to reduce production of regional jets at its Mirabel facility near Montreal, due to a combination of lower ordering and the overall decline in commercial aviation traffic (Financial Post, 09-Nov-2009). Additional labour cuts may be necessary. Bombardier announced cuts to 4,400 workers earlier in 2009.

Bombardier: "We are currently analyzing our order book and talking with customers and then we'll have to review the rate of production at Mirabel. We may have to announce some adjustments in the fourth quarter and they may affect our labour force," Pierre Beaudoin, CEO. Source: Financial Post, 09-Nov-2009.
