Boeing looks hard at increasing B737 production to 42 per month

Boeing stated it is seriously considering an increase to B737NG production to 42 aircraft per month (Bloomberg, 14-Mar-2011). B737NG production averages 31.5 aircraft per month and is due to be increased to 38 per month by 2013. Boeing Commercial Airplanes President Jim Albaugh stated the seven-year order backlog for the B737NG is too large and it is unable to provide new aircraft for customers within five or six years. Boeing believes the production life of the B737 family could stretch another two decades.
