Boeing forecasts world's carriers will require an additional 466,650 pilots

Boeing forecasted that the world's carriers will require an additional 466,650 pilots for aircraft being added to their fleets during the next 20 years (MSNBC, 04-Jul-2011). A large proportion of the new hires will be needed to replace pilots leaving through retirement and attrition. The largest demand will be in the Asian Pacific region, requiring 180,600 pilots during the next two decades. North America will need 97,350 pilots and Europe 94,800.
