Boeing Commercial Airplanes 1Q2014 highlights

Boeing Commercial Airplanes reported (23-Apr-2014) the following financial highlights for 1Q2014

  • Revenue: Increased 18% year-on-year to USD12.7 billion, on higher 787 and 737 deliveries;
  • Operating margin: Improved to 11.8%, up 0.4 percentage points, reflecting the delivery volume and mix and lower period costs partially offset by higher R&D;
  • Earnings from operations: Improved 23% to USD1.5 billion.

Operational highlights for 1Q2014:

  • Delivered 161 aircraft, up from 137 in 1Q2013;
  • Booked 235 net orders during 1Q2014;
  • 787 programme reached a 10 per month production rate during 1Q2014;
  • Completed preliminary design review on the 787-10;
  • Boeing selected the Everett, Washington site as the location for a new composite wing centre for the 777X;
  • In Apr-2014, the 737 programme reached a production rate of 42 per month;
