Boeing 747-8 freighter successfully completes first flight

Boeing confirmed (08-Feb-2010) its new B747-8F successfully took to the sky for the first time, powered by four General Electric GEnx-2B engines. The flight was delayed by approximately two hours due to inclement weather. The flight was the first of more than 1,600 flight hours in the test programme for the newest member of the Boeing freighter family. Boeing has received 76 orders for the new freighter.
