Azul confirms TRIP merger now in 'final stage', to be complete by Apr-2014 or May-2014

Azul confirmed (13-Jan-2014) its merger with TRIP Linhas Aereas is now in its "final stage" and is expected to be complete "in the next four months". As an agreement between the two crews has now been reached on a unified salary structure, TRIP's equipment and all human resources will now be transferred to Azul, including TRIP's fleet. The two carriers are expected to unify their operations under one AOC by "late Apr-2014 and the the first half of May-2014." Azul founder David Neeleman said, "We are very happy to make the final step in this process of incorporation, which was one of the fastest and most successful of recent times around the world. No doubt this will bring even more benefits to our customers and crew, once we gain efficiency in our operation and consequently, continue to do more for Brazil." Azul's currently fleet consists of 134 aircraft operating 860 daily services to 103 destinations, accounting for 30% of all operations in the country and employing "more than" 9700 staff. TRIP aircraft will gradually be converted to Azul livery "over the coming years". [more - original PR - Portuguese]
