Australia's domestic pax numbers up 2% in Jun-2013, load factor down

Australia’s Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) reports (19-Aug-2013) the following traffic highlights for Australian domestic airlines in Jun-2013:

  • Passenger numbers: 4.5 million, +1.7% year-on-year;
  • Top ten domestic city pairs:
    • Melbourne-Sydney: 631,500, +2.5%;
    • Brisbane-Sydney: 356,700, +4.7%;
    • Brisbane-Melbourne: 247,400, +0.7%;
    • Gold Coast-Sydney: 184,400, +9.4%;
    • Melbourne-Perth: 167,000, -0.3%;
    • Adelaide-Melbourne: 166,700, +1.3%;
    • Perth-Sydney: 131,400, -4.4%;
    • Adelaide-Sydney: 128,000, -1.6%;
    • Gold Coast-Melbourne: 120,700, -6.9%;
    • Brisbane-Cairns: 103,900, +3.9%;
  • Load factor: 75.4%, -2.4 ppts;
    • Melbourne-Sydney: 79.1%, +2.0 ppts;
