Brunei's Communications Minister, Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Abdullah Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar, commented that a "well-integrated, sustainable and secure transportation system can strengthen Asean's position as a regional hub for the broader East Asian region and beyond, and ensure Asean centrality in the emerging regional architecture" (Brunei Times/Asia News Network). The current deadline for the conclusion of the Multilateral Agreement on Full Liberalisation on Passenger Air Services, which facilities the realisation of the Asean Single Aviation Market, is 30-Jun-2010.

Brunei Government: "Given the timeline of June 30, 2010, for the implementation of protocol of this agreement, I understand that this meeting has a big decision to make. Indeed, a well-integrated, sustainable and secure transportation system can strengthen Asean's position as a regional hub for the broader East Asian region and beyond, and ensure Asean centrality in the emerging regional architecture as envisioned in the master plan", Minister Pehin Dato Hj Abdullah.
