airberlin abandons breakeven EBIT target for 2013

airberlin abandoned (14-Nov-2013) its target of breaking even in 2013, citing weak demand and increased competition. airberlin CEO Wolfgang Prock-Schauer stated: "Given the weak demand and the unabated intense competitive environment, even further price erosion is apparent for the current winter half-year. The continued pronounced slowdown in demand, especially in the Mediterranean region, affects airberlin in particular." Mr Prock-Schauer added: "After the first nine months of the year and in light of the continuing challenging market conditions, the Company should now only be able to come close to achieving market consensus in 2013 with positive one-off effects and higher other operating income."
