AirAsia names Medan Airport as new hub

Indonesia AirAsia announced that Medan's Polonia International Airport would serve as a new hub (The Jakarta Post, 17-Jan-2011). Polonia is the airline's fifth hub. Indonesia AirAsia launched four times weekly service between Medan and Hong Kong on 16-Jan-2011, becoming the first carrier to operate on the route - see Route Changes Table for more information (CAAC-News, 17-Jan-2011). The carrier first entered the Hong Kong market in May-2008 and plans to further expand its presence in Hong Kong and southern China.
