Air France-KLM considering 'a la carte' provision of premium services

Air France-KLM stated it plans to offer additional service traditionally provided for premium passengers on an "a la carte" basis to Economy travelers, to boost ancillary revenues amid a decline in ticket revenues (Bloomberg, 23-Sep-2009). Services that could be purchased item-by-item include larger luggage allowances and tickets with flexible change policies. The carrier added that it has not ruled out the possibility of removing Business class from some medium-haul routes. The carrier is expected to complete a strategic review of its medium-haul operations "within weeks".
