Air Astana takes delivery of first A321 aircraft

Air Astana announced (14-Dec-2012) it took delivery of its first A321 aircraft. The aircraft is configured with 179 seats including 28 seats in business class and 151 seats in economy class. The A321 was part of an order for six aircraft made in May-2008 which also included A320 aircraft. The airline plans to take delivery of additional aircraft in 2013. Air Astana president Peter Foster said, "The arrival of the first owned Airbus A321s at Air Astana is not only a major event for the airline, but also for the government of Kazakhstan. Having launched the airline with minimal capital in 2002, we are pleased to have built up sufficient financial strength to the point where we are now taking delivery of a new fleet of substantial value. Air Astana has entered an important new phase of its development". [more - original PR]
