Air Astana and Turkish Airlines sign LOI to establish codeshare agreement

Air Astana announced (06-Mar-2013) it signed a letter of intent (LOI) with Turkish Airlines to establish a codeshare agreement on routes operated by both carriers between Kazakhstan and Turkey. The routes include from Istanbul to Almaty and Astana. The codesharing agreement would also include a special prorate agreement to destinations beyond Almaty, Astana and Istanbul. The airlines plan to have the codeshare agreement in place from May-2013. Air Astana president Peter Foster said, "The strength of the extensive and rapidly growing network of Turkish Airlines from its hub at Istanbul Ataturk Airport will allow us to offer a much wider range of destinations to our customers. Our passengers will enjoy increased travel flexibility and improved connectivity benefitting from the combined frequencies that we will be offering through the codeshare." Turkish Airlines president and CEO Temel Kotil said the airline is "extremely delighted to sign the Letter of Intent with Air Astana, as we aim to improve our partnership to maximise the travel opportunities offered to passengers through the extensive networks of both airlines".
