ACI Asia Pacific: Asia Pacific airports pax up 6%, Middle East airports up 2% in Jul-2013

ACI Asia Pacific reported (06-Sep-2013) Asia Pacific airports continued to register steady growth in passenger traffic in Jul-2013 with year-on-year passenger growth of 5.9%. Middle Eastern airports recorded a 1.6% increase, which, although it is lower than the double-digit figures registered in previous months it is in line with the traditional decline in passenger traffic in July or August each year to Ramadan. The top five busiest airports in the region were Beijing, Tokyo Haneda, Hong Kong, Dubai and Jakarta. Phuket and Chiang Mai continued to be the airports with the highest growth with 19.4% and 21.8%, respectively. Air cargo traffic continued to be stagnant in Asia Pacific with a slight increase of 0.4% while Middle Eastern airports registered an increase of 2.3%. The top five airports with the highest cargo throughput were Hong Kong, Shanghai Pudong, Dubai, Seoul Incheon and Tokyo Narita. [more - original PR]
