14-Jan-2013 VietJetAir has added one more aircraft to its expanding fleet of Airbus A320s just under a month before the airline embarks on its first international flight from Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok. The low-cost carrier, which now boasts six airplanes and flies to nine destinations in Vietnam, plans to add more domestic routes and international connections added in 2013.

The narrow body A320, registered as VN-A699, landed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport last week. The plane's front section is emblazoned with Vietnam's official tourism logo and slogan: a stylized five-petal lotus accompanied by the words, Vietnam - Timeless Charm. The latter part of the plane, harmoniously colored red and yellow, represents the national flag of Vietnam.

"We are proud to fly the flag for tourism in Vietnam and promote this country as a destination for travelers and businesspeople all over the world," said Desmond Lin, VietJetAir's Business Development Director: "It's an honor for us to use the national colors and tourism slogan as part of our design."

According to Lin, initially, the new aircraft will help meet increasing travel demand during the Lunar New Year holidays before facilitating VietJetAir's international expansion. "We plan to have up to 15 aircraft by 2015 with three to five aircraft to arrive this year. We are confident there is plenty of room for growth with our business model of high quality flights and low-cost fares," added Lin.

VietJetAir's domestic network currently links Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Dalat, Danang, Phu Quoc, Hue, Nha Trang, Vinh and Hai Phong. The airline will launch its first international route between Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok on February 10, 2013. The airline also plans to launch a flight connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to other Southeast and Northeast Asian countries before the end of 2013.
