Swedavia: Increased travel in April

08-May-2013

In April some 2.76 million passengers flew to or from one of Swedavia's eleven airports, an increase of four per cent compared to the same period in 2012. The number of domestic passengers was up four percent to 1,123,000, and the number of international passengers was up four per cent to 1,643,000.

The number of landings in scheduled and charter operations at Swedavia's airports during the period was 17,800, which is seven per cent more than during the same month in 2012.

"The number of passengers in April increased but is on par with last year's traffic if an adjustment is made for calendar effects," says Torborg Chetkovich, Swedavia's chief executive. "International traffic continues to grow, and it is good to see the airlines' cabin factor remain high."

Thus far in 2013, the number of passengers at Swedavia's airports has fallen by one per cent. The number of domestic passengers from January to April fell five percent compared to 2012, while the number of international passengers increased two per cent. The number of landings in scheduled and charter operations this year has fallen two per cent compared to the period January-April 2012 to 64,900.
