15-Aug-2013 The number of passengers at Swedavia's airports rose four per cent during the second quarter of 2013. During the period, a large number of new routes were also launched or announced. Swedavia's net revenue increased during the period to SEK 1,348 M (1,248), and operating profit improved to SEK 263 M (237).

As demand for international air travel grows, conditions are created for more routes, especially at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. So far this year, seven new intercontinental routes have been launched or announced by different airline customers.

"This, of course, is a positive trend, and there is still more potential to further enhance access, especially regarding Asia and the US. In addition to aggressive marketing efforts, efficiency improvements and increased capacity at our international hubs are also underway," notes Torborg Chetkovich, chief executive of Swedavia.
