Reduction in Qantas codeshare services with British Airways to destinations beyond London

Direct News Source

09-Nov-2012 Qantas and British Airways are in the process of winding down their Joint Services Agreement. From 31 March 2013, Qantas will remove its code from a number of British Airways services to destinations beyond London.

Qantas will continue to provide codeshare services on British Airways operated flights to a number of destinations within the UK and Continental Europe. From London, customers will be able to fly on Qantas codeshare services to Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Leeds-Bradford, Berlin, Brussels, Toulouse, Stockholm, Olso and Zagreb (with Leeds-Bradford, and Zagreb being two new codeshare destinations).

Existing bookings

All Qantas customers with existing bookings for travel on the discontinued codeshare services from 31 March 2013 will be rebooked onto the prime British Airways flight number, with the same flight details (i.e. the same destination, date, time and travel class). Travel agents will start to see the changes appear on their GDS schedule change queues from Thursday, 8 November 2012. Customers with bookings prior to 31 March 2013 and customers booked on the continuing codeshare routes are not impacted by the change.

Future bookings

Customers can continue to travel via London to/from the destinations removed from the codeshare arrangement by booking an interline journey, combining Qantas flights with our oneworld partner British Airways or other carriers' flights.

Qantas Frequent Flyers

Qantas Frequent Flyer members booked for travel from 31 March 2013 on affected intra-European Qantas codeshare services, whose flight has been rebooked to the British Airways flight number, will earn the same points and status credits for that flight - provided the member makes no further to the booking (e.g. change in date, time, destination).

This will only apply to existing bookings. For new bookings for travel from 31 March 2013, Qantas Frequent Flyer members will earn points on British Airways services in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Qantas Frequent Flyer Program. For details about earning points on British Airways services with a British Airways flight number, see http://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/partners/airline/british-airways.

Qantas Frequent Flyer members who have purchased a Classic Award seat are not affected by the change.
