26-Mar-2014 Following several years of construction during operation, Flughafen Zürich AG today opened the southern part of Terminal 2 for operations. The check-in area and arrival hall have been completely revamped. The opening went smoothly thanks to excellent cooperation between all the airport partners.

The new infrastructure offers passengers a new kind of travel experience. They can enjoy an entirely new check-in area and a larger arrival hall. In addition, various construction works have been carried out to optimise the core infrastructure, improve the lighting and upgrade the terminal's appearance. Terminal 2 now also features state-of-the-art building services. The full renovation of the building started in June 2010 with two aims: to increase capacity for the future and to create more space and comfort for passengers and employees. Flughafen Zürich AG looks forward with its partner companies to commencing operations in this newly modernised section of Terminal 2.

Terminal 2 has been operating for almost 40 years and is an integral part of Zurich Airport's passenger infrastructure. In addition to the large Check-in Hall 2, Terminal 2 is also home to Arrival 2 as well as a variety of shops, restaurants and offices. Since regular passenger handling operations need to continue as usual during the entire construction period, the alterations were firstly carried out in the southern half of the building, and will now continue in the northern half. Completion of the second renovation phase is planned for October 2015, and the whole "Terminal 2 upgrade" project is scheduled to be completed in mid-2016.
