US Trade and Development Agency and CAAC to fund second Beijing Airport project

Premium Analysis

US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) awarded CAAC USD700,652 to provide technical assistance in developing a plan for Beijing's second airport. The funding will be used to analyse the proposed runway alignments to determine capacity and operational limitations. The technical assistance will also identify key orientation, geometry, and other airspace management issues at the airport that will help minimise environmental impacts, while maximising traffic flow. The CAAC has selected the American Chamber of Commerce in China Fund (Amcham) to perform the technical assistance for the project, while the US-China Aviation Cooperation Program, under Amcham, will manage the project and contribute resources toward its completion.
