Thai AirAsia looks at listing, JetBlue traffic up 8% in Jan-2011, Vueling traffic down 5%

Shares in AirAsia dropped 3.9%. The carrier's Thai offshoot, Thai AirAsia, announced it plans to conduct a float on the Stock Exchange of Thailand in 3Q2011, to raise funds for its expansion and repay debt. The IPO will be for at least 25% of the carrier's shares. AirAsia owns a 49% stake in the airline.

Shares in US LCC JetBlue eased 0.2% at the close of trading yesterday. The airline reported its Jan-2011 traffic highlights, showing an 8.3% improvement in passenger traffic and a 5.9 percentage point increase in passenger load factors to 80%. Encouragingly the airlines unit revenue (per ASM) was up 13%.

Spanish LCC Vueling reported its passenger traffic highlights for Jan-2011, with passenger numbers falling 4.9% year-on-year to 643,000. The carrier's average load factor improved by 2.3 ppts, as its slashed flights by 8.9%, despite adding a new A320 to its fleet.
