Site clearing for FRA’s A380 maintenance base to begin September 12

FRANKFURT (Fraport)  - Construction Fence to Be Erected - Green Light from BVG - The Federal Administrative High Court (BVG) in Leipzig, Germany, today decided not to stop commencement of construction for the new A380 maintenance base at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) - thus confirming the Hesse Administrative High Court's (HVG) earlier decision of June 28.

The court said that it could not be expected that an appeal would be allowed, as petitioned by the BUND (Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland). Fraport AG will begin site clearing on September 12. About 21 hectares of forest will be cleared for the project. As an environmental offset, Fraport AG has already undertaken reforestation of about 23 hectares in the neighboring Rüsselsheim and Trebur districts.

Fraport's executive vice chairman Prof. Manfred Schölch, responsible for FRA's expansion, announced that the trees would be "cut without delay."
